Meteorological equipment specialists Biral is getting noticed in the leisure industry following the launch of its BTD-200 self-contained, standalone lightning warning system last autumn.

Since making its debut at Met Tech last year, the BTD-200 has grown in popularity across a number of industries, and broke into the leisure industry earlier this year at the 2019 Golf Industry Show in San Diego.Following its success at the show, Biral has spent much of 2019 introducing the new BTD-200 to the golf and leisure industry through the media. The BTD-200 lightning warning system gives advanced warning of overhead lightning risk using its professional-grade detection system which is designed for leisure, sports and outdoor pursuits. This includes golf courses, team sports, university and school sports facilities, sports stadiums, outdoor leisure, theme parks and concert venues. The BTD-200 lightning warning system is a complete detection and warning system which has been developed from the Biral range of professional aviation grade lightning detection systems. It reliably detects the local presence of all forms of lightning out to a range of 35km (22 miles) from the sensor. Designed to be installed and set up by non-technical staff, it comes with a power supply and the essential PC application ‘Lightning Works’, for monitoring and warning personnel of approaching thunderstorms.

After being received well in the golf industry press, Biral has recently become members of the GCMA (Golf Club Managers’ Association) and will be attending its biennial conference in November.  The event brings together golf club managers and industry professionals from across the UK and Europe and offers invaluable networking opportunities alongside a programme of inspiring keynote speakers and industry led break-out sessions.

Biral will also be attending The BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition (BTME), Europe’s leading exhibition for turf professionals and buyers and returning to the Golf Industry Show in January to continue promoting the BTD-200 to industry experts, and plans to introduce it to even more businesses in the leisure market in the coming months.
